The original Kinks version of ‘I Need You’ is a pretty strong record, but in 1967 the Early Rationals took it, pumped it full of steroids and amphetamines, and turned it into a monster.
Staying in 1967 with the Tormentors’ ‘She’s Gone’, we calm things down a bit whilst adding a sprinkling of darkness to the mood. The rarer of the two tracks, this is only just breaking big in the clubs. It’s nice to dance to, but it also has the kind of haunting chorus you’ll eventually find yourself singing in the bathtub.
